Widget Privacy Notice
Last updated: April 1, 2026
This notice explains what happens with your information when you use the chat widget on a law firm's website. We've kept it short and clear.
What is this chat?
The chat widget is powered by Greetler, an AI assistant. It is not a human and it is not a lawyer. It uses information from the law firm's public website to answer your questions. Its responses are informational only and are not legal advice.
What data do we collect?
- Your chat messages — Everything you type in the chat is recorded
- Contact info you choose to share — If you fill out a contact form (name, email, phone), that information is captured
- The page you're on — We may note which page of the law firm's website you started the chat from
- A random session ID — To keep your conversation together during your visit. This is not linked to your identity and is cleared when you close the browser tab
We do not use cookies, track you across websites, or collect your IP address for profiling.
Who can see your messages?
- The law firm whose website you're on — they can see your conversations and contact details in their dashboard
- Greetler — we process your messages to run the chat service
- OpenAI — your messages are sent to OpenAI's AI models to generate responses. OpenAI does not use API data to train their models
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
This is NOT a confidential conversation
Important: Your chat messages are not protected by attorney-client privilege. Because your messages are processed by Greetler (a technology company) and AI providers, they are not confidential in the legal sense.
If you need to share sensitive information about a legal matter, contact the law firm directly by phone or email instead of using this chat.
This is NOT legal advice
The AI assistant provides general information based on the law firm's website. It cannot:
- Give you legal advice
- Represent you in legal matters
- Guarantee case outcomes
- Create an attorney-client relationship
For actual legal counsel, schedule a consultation with the law firm.
How long is your data kept?
Your conversation and contact details are kept for as long as the law firm maintains their Greetler account. If the firm cancels, all data is deleted within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to delete your conversation data at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or export your data.
EU/EEA residents: The law firm is the data controller for your information. Greetler processes your data on their behalf. You can exercise your GDPR rights by contacting the law firm directly, or by contacting us and we will forward your request.
California residents: We do not sell your personal information. You can request deletion by contacting us.
Contact us at privacy@greetler.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
This service is not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA).
